Sports Equipment: Roller Skates

Description: Men's clamp on metal skates used at UMEI auditorium.

Roller skating was the “in” thing to do for the Mennonite young

people in the 1950’s. We skated Saturday evening, Sunday

afternoon/evening & sometimes during the week. These skates

covered many miles going round, round, and round (on display)

Sports Equipment: Baseball Bat

Description: Karl Epp’s father Henry Epp (a Sunday school teacher at LUMC at the time) purchased two bats in the 1940’s intended for use at the Sunday School picnics held at Point Pelee. Karl remembers them being stored in their attic during the winter months. The Epp family lived at the corner of County Rd # 37 and Concession 5 at the time.
