The summer months brought tourists and visiting families to the museum. Many questions were asked and answered. Stories were exchanged, and it should be noted that visitors were impressed with what was offered by the EKMHA in terms of resources, and encouragement was given to continue with the work going on at the museum!
Here is a look at some of the activities going on this past month:
In appreciation: Mary Krueger of Wheatley donated some photos from her mother Mary Derksen. Walt Dick donated his family story, which was written by his brother Jake Dick of London.
September 24: Nine students from UMEI held their first of five one-hour sessions in which they interview seniors. This is a class assignment they are completing for their teacher Christine Tiessen.
September 24: Harold Tiessen and Henry Janzen cemented signs in place to identify the Chortiza oak trees in the Heritage garden. As they were starting, two young boys from London, Gerhard and Joe Fehr came and offered to help. They were visiting their Oma at the Mennonite Home, saw the men working and lent their helping hands – thanks, boys!
September 25: Edgar Konrad and Henry Janzen cemented the sign for the seeder-plough. The signs installed during these two days were made and donated by Keith Klassen and Abe Fehr.
